Originally released in 2006 on Immortal Records, Brazil’s "The Philosophy of Velocity" was a daring, dystopian/Edwardian rock opera co-produced with Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, Mogwai, Mercury Rev).
The album built a labyrinth of sound woven together with surreal short stories and themes of fractured identity, entropy, and decay. AllMusic called it “a natural extension of all that has come before, yet a giant step forward for the band,” while Alternative Press wrote, “Even name-dropping their peers can’t contain or adequately describe what they have crafted.” Lollipop Magazine described it as a “thrilling, thick album,” a record that demanded repeated listens to absorb its depth.
The momentum was short-lived. Just a year later, Immortal Records collapsed, the album went out of print, and the original masters vanished into industry limbo. For nearly two decades, "The Philosophy of Velocity" existed only in the hands of those who had managed to buy it before its disappearance, becoming a cult artifact among fans and traded in rare CD exchanges.
DL;BR is proud to offer the last remaining copies of the original 2006 Immortal Records pressing. These CDs feature the original master by Greg Calbi, and once they run out, that's it. That's all there is.
Truly, a collector's must-have.
