Brazil record, Wednesday

The official vinyl crowdfunding campaign for Brazil's 2006 album reissue of "The Philosophy of Velocity" opens this Wednesday.

Day after tomorrow, if you're keeping track.

We don't know how this will go. It's been almost 20 years, after all.

We're encouraged when we see fan posts in random Reddit-holes or Youtube rips with long threads of people sharing memories of us.

But we've never done this before. We're excited, nervous, thrilled, anxious.

We could sell 5, or we could sell out. The month of October could be a buzzing hive of activity, or it could be a nest of quiet crickets.

We could mess something up (but we'll make it right).

I guess that's what makes it exciting.

Instead of making our art and tossing it over to the industry machine, we're giving it directly from our hearts.

Every Insta post, every flier design, every band bio is made by all of us, working late nights and weekends to make this happen. Six small-town Indiana guys (well, one from NJ), not giving up on a record that has somehow quietly achieved cult status like the film it was named after.

It means so much to us to offer this as a career coda after all these years.

And it's not just the Brazil record on the table. We've got all kinds of memorabilia slated for release in the way of rare tracks, side-project and offshoot bundles, cryptic cassette tapes, lathe cuts, song stems, fajita recipes and so much more.

It's been incredibly fun to compile, and will be well worth your while/money.

As a label owner, the symbolism is not lost on me that Death, Love & Broken Records catalog number DLBR-001 is this very record. It documents something of a final chapter, but embodies the spiritual beginning of a new one.
