3 is the third studio recording by City Water, released October 27, 2017, on Young Tobacco Records and later Nap Factory Records. It was recorded in Indianapolis, IN, by Jonathon Newby (as City Water), and released on cassette by Halfpear Records. The release is a departure from the more fully orchestrated 2, and instead features more minimalist-leaning solo piano voicings with a number of compositions based on American hymnals from the 1800s. 3 contains no lyrics, but conceptual themes include regret, forgiveness and redemption. The six-song work was mastered by acclaimed minimalist composer Taylor Deupree.

3 has never been performed live.
